http://www.enlighten.co.nz/ - This website designer/IT consulting site has a very simple, attactive design. Its separate boxes and bordered lists make very easy access. I like this a lot. Its subtle background pattern adds to the well organised complexity of the site.
http://www.hotelbellwether.com/ - This hotel website look very luxurious due to the golds and bronzes used in its colour palette. Large pictures and drop-down lists are used. These give a professional feel and smooth links to each page.

More website designs
http://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/ - easy layout, large images make it interesting and easy to navigate. Inviting design, easy to read further into website.
http://www.royal.gov.uk/ - 2 column design, spread out and easy to read. Nice text colour changes down the left column. Not many images and maybe too spaced out. Seems all over the place.

Designs
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/ - Nice layout, has lots of picture links and ideas for food. Very visual page. Recipes sectioned into chef catagories as well as ingredients. Big search bar, inviting for user to type.
http://www.t3.com/ - Simple colours, but a little bland. Links describe the article so users know what to expect. Page seems slightly crammed with advertisements. Use of pictures make page esier to look at.

Website Designs
http://designmuseum.org/ - This has a very clean layout which I think works well with the user. All links are at the top and are all easy to find. Unfortunately the links are placed very close together and one slip of the mouse and the user will be on a different page!
http://www.intute.ac.uk/design/ - This has a very bland layout but its feels easy to use. Each section is contained within a border and links are placed at the top. Bigger text is used which seems to make it easier to read.

Websites that contain useful web design resources
These websites contain an expanse of information and resources when aiding to develop a website. I will add more when come across them.
http://www.webdesign.org/ - Gives very useful tutorials on many different technologies associated with web design such as; Photoshop, Javascript, Fireworks. An accessible layout on the screen and everything is easy to navigate. Has hints and tips of what to remember and incorporate into a website.
http://www.wpdfd.com/resources/ - Gives a specification on what a website should contain and FAQ's on how to do it. Not as ergonomic as others but contains useful information.
http://elementiks.com/web_resources.php - Lists a collection of computer based resources with links to download a trial of each type. It specifies how much it would be use and briefly describes the purpose of the progamme at the homepage. It is American based though.
http://bestwebgallery.com/ - This is website that collects all different websites from across the web and selects the best to display on there homepage. This will give an insight to which design is popular but also easy to use. They believe: Quality Design = Visual + Technical + Creativity.
